Funded R&D project granted: FORFUN – From Forest to Functional Particles
01.05.2023
Lignopure receives funding under the umbrella of the programme “Bioeconomy in the North” by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The project “FORFUN” (From Forest to Functional Particles) unites nameful researchers in the field of lignin particle technologies as well as cosmetic and food applications and aims to develop novel techniques for creating micro and colloidal particles from lignin and hemicelluloses, with the intention of harnessing their potential in the exclusive field of life science materials.
Lignin and hemicelluloses have highly interesting properties for life science applications and form stable colloidal systems that form the basis of most life science materials. Modern technologies enable the recovery and utilization of lignin and hemicelluloses, contribute to sustainability and bring performance advantages for novel products. We hypothesize that lignin and hemicelluloses have synergistic benefits that enhance their functionality and applicability in microparticle and colloidal systems. The FORFUN concept is to combine the beneficial properties of lignin and hemicelluloses to develop novel personal care and food products.
