The founder and CEO of Lignopure, Joana Gil, had the chance to talk at the “Podium on sustainability and living without plastic” organized by DIE ZEIT and KAIFU LODGE. Together with Jörn Anhalt from One Earth-One Ocean e.V. and Mario Rodwald, founder of KOLD Shapes, they talked about options for a cleaner planet and how their companies are striving to make an impact in terms of the plastic and microplastic pollution in our waters.

Lignopure is looking to offer a clean, natural, reefsafe alternative to chemicals that hurt our waters. Lignopure’s ingredient lines, LignoBase and LignoPearls, are lignin-based materials that are biodegradable and not dangerous to life below water. These ingredients can be used in cosmetic formulations to diminish and, in some cases, completely replace chemicals and microplastics that are dangerous to aquatic ecosystems and human health.

One Earth-One Ocean is an organization that has developed a concept to remove plastic waste, oil and chemicals from water bodies globally. If you want to know more about this project, visit them here: https://oneearth-oneocean.com/en/

KOLD designs kiteboards from sustainable materials and has teamed up with ARKTIK to offset all the emissions used in the kiteboard production process, which means that new trees are planted to counteract the CO2 production from their manufacturing.
