At the Science4Life Venture Cup, ideas are transformed into companies. That’s why the first of three phases of the business plan competition begins with the submission of a business idea from the life sciences, chemistry and energy sectors. This year, a total of 81 teams participated in the idea phase.
During the idea phase, 30 teams were invited to the workshop in Frankfurt to further develop their business ideas together with the help of experts.
The five best teams in the idea phase of the Science4Life Venture Cup 2019:

- EXIMMIUM (Munich)
- implacit (Mannheim)
- Lignopure (Hamburg)
- Mediaire GmbH (Berlin)
Hamburg-based startup Lignopure won the idea phase. The startup helps companies in the life sciences sector expand their portfolios with sustainable and innovative lignin-based products. In addition to its already well-known applications in insulation materials or polymers, Lignopure lignin can also be used in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical or food industries due to its natural properties.
