Strength by action

The future of materials is plant-based, circular, and clean.

Our responsible commitment

At Lignopure, we unlock the potential of lignin, a natural, renewable resource to reduce waste, eliminate fossil-based ingredients, and enable industries to make more responsible choices. Our mission goes beyond business. By replacing fossil-based ingredients with lignin, we enable our customers to reduce their carbon footprint while improving product performance, driving demand for sustainable solutions and our own growth. Our purpose is embedded in our R&D, supplier selection, and customer partnerships, ensuring every decision advances both our mission and our bottom line. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainable chemistry, turning lignin into a cornerstone of the circular economy.

Our Triple Bottom Line

For us, sustainability isn’t just a goal. It’s the foundation of how we operate. We are committed to creating value not only for our business but also for the planet and its people. Our approach is rooted in the Triple Bottom Line framework, which measures success in three interconnected dimensions:

People

We prioritise the well-being of our employees, partners, and communities. By fostering a culture of innovation, safety, and inclusivity, we ensure that our operations empower individuals and contribute to social progress. From fair labor practices to community engagement, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives we touch.

We are committed to respecting human rights and the planet in all we do. We align our operations and supply chain with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

Planet

As a leader in lignin-based solutions, we recognize our responsibility to the environment. Our products are designed to reduce reliance on fossil-based materials, lower carbon footprints, and promote circular economy principles. Through sustainable sourcing, energy-efficient processes, and eco-friendly innovations, we work to preserve natural resources for future generations.

Profitability

Economic viability is essential to drive our long term impact. By delivering highquality, bio-based solutions, we create value for our customers and stakeholders while ensuring the financial health of our company. Our business model aligns profitability with purpose, proving that sustainability and success go hand in hand.

Sustainable Development Goals

We align our efforts with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, advancing Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).

Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12)

Our lignin-based solutions replace fossil materials, reducing waste and emissions. Our ingredient is natural, enabling brands to create cleaner and more sustainable products for consumers.

Climate Action (SDG 13)

By eliminating fossil-based ingredients, we lower carbon footprints and accelerate the shift to a circular economy.

Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9)

We drive innovation with sustainable, high-performance lignin materials. We see the potential of lignin and collaborate with academia and industrial researchers to drive the discovery forwards.

Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3)

Non-toxic, natural lignin materials improve safety for consumers.

Gender Equality (SDG 5)

Founded and led by three women, we champion equality in leadership and foster an inclusive workplace.

Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17)

Collaborations with industries and researchers scale our sustainable solutions. Through our involvement in Circular Cosmetics Collective, we actively contribute to the SDG 17.

Our Climate Action Plan

Operations & Efficiency

Improving the efficiency of our operations is foundational to reducing our overall environmental impact. Our LCA is helping us understand where our footprint is largest and where improvements will have the most effect. This section spans energy use, water, waste, transport and production processes.

Supplier selection

Our suppliers are partners in our sustainability mission. We believe in being transparent about our expectations and in building relationships with companies that share our values. We also want to ensure that all future supplier decisions are made with sustainability as a core consideration.

Packaging optimisation

Packaging is one of the areas where we see the most direct opportunity to reduce waste and environmental impact. Our LCA is central to identifying which changes will make the greatest difference, so that decisions are evidence-based rather than assumptions.

Certifications & Standards

Certifications give our commitments external credibility and help us benchmark our progress against internationally recognised standards. They also support transparency with our customers and partners. Complete LCA in full conformance with ISO 14040 + 14044

Company culture & awareness

Sustainability is already embedded in how we work, it shows up in our monthly meetings, our sourcing decisions and the way we talk about our business. Our goal now is to formalise this commitment so that it is visible, structured and something every team member can engage with and contribute to.

What we are working on right now:

Our Climate Action Plan is organised around the five strategic pillars. The aim of these pillars is to provide a holistic overview of our business activities and ensure sustainability is considered across all areas of operation and company culture. The current LCA under development, feeds directly into these pillars and will inform more specific targets as findings become available.

Operations & Efficiency

- Set measurable targets for energy, water and waste reduction once LCA data is available.
- Identify and prioritise 2–3 process improvement initiatives for implementation in 2026.
- Define responsibility and resource allocation for each initiative.

Supplier Selection

- Develop a formal set of minimum sustainability criteria for suppliers (e.g. fair labour standards, traceable biomass, no use of endangered species).
- Create a supplier code of conduct that clearly communicates our expectations.
- Explore a supplier sustainability scoring system to support selection decisions (and consider incorporating transport emission data into supplier assessments).
- Continue to collect official documentation on all sustainability criteria creating a database for each lignin.

Packaging Optimisation

- Use LCA results to identify and prioritise packaging changes with the highest impact reduction.
- Investigate specific alternatives: removing the aluminium layer (1 kg), thinner LDPE, heat seal over thread, alternative label materials.
- Communicate the environmental benefit of larger pack sizes to customers (economies of scale).

Certifications & Standards

- Complete LCA in full conformance with ISO 14040 + 14044
- Continue with B-Corp Certification.
- Review and select other potential certifications.

Company Culture & Awareness

- Establish a fixed annual calendar of sustainability-focused meetings, trainings and optional educational events.
- Share CCC membership updates, events and learnings internally with the team on a regular basis.
- Introduce an annual sustainability summary as a dedicated agenda item.
- Explore future industry coalition memberships and partnerships as the company grows.
- Make sustainability goals visible and progress trackable across the organisation.
